The Final Conference of the H2020 MAKSWELL Project took place on 21st October 2020 as fully virtual event, in the light of the coronavirus pandemic. The event has the aim to focus on the most relevant results of the three-year research activity carried out by the project consortium’s partners, having delivered on all its objectives and developing solutions to:

  • use remote sensing data to improve the spatial resolution of well-being and poverty indicators
  • improve the measurement of poverty using scanner data
  • improve the use of well-being and sustainability indicators for policy in order to open on the way forward in order to deepen the relation between well-being and sustainable indicators and policy evaluation.

The work programme was opened by the welcome address of Istat President Gian Carlo Blangiardo and was followed by interesting interventions of invited partners who gave their presentations on the results reached through their research activities and a future-oriented round table with very useful inputs on further steps to be taken on the path traced by MAKSWELL project given by Gaby Umbach from European University Institute, GlobalStat, and Martin Karlberg from Eurostat.
