The OECD has just released a new version of the web-tool “Compare your income” which allows users to check whether their perception of income inequality is in line with reality. With a few clicks they can see where they are placed in the national income distribution and share their views on how this should be distributed to determine income equality.
The new edition introduces a module to explore how people's perceptions of inequality affect their willingness to support redistribution and asks users what priorities should be taken into account in public spending. When an adequate amount of data is available, the OECD will perform an analysis of the preferences and priorities expressed, in order to support policy makers in developing post-Covid recovery strategies.
